Medical Contributors Needed

Posted by: drhaisook on: December 22, 2005

If you work or study in a medical field; clinical or academical, you can contribute with me in expanding this free medical website, by sending articles, pictures, and tips, etc…

The Rules:

  1. You must be either working or studying in a pure medical field. Medical journals employees, for instance, are not allowed to contribute here.
  2. Pictures or photos must be high in quality, clear, and not under copyright.
  3. The content of the articles must not be comprehensive, right out of an atlas, very common, repetitive, irrelevant, or insignifact. The recommended sort of content should be summarized in a few points, and should contain one or more of the following: tips, tricks, important uncommon points, common clinical misconceptions, demonstrating illustrations, rare actual photos. See the posts in here for examples.
  4. If you’d like to, once you contribute with at least one post, your info will permanently be placed in the sidebar (read more below).

What will you gain?

I will give no cash. However, you’ll gain other profitable advantages:

  1. I think the act of contribution is in itself a GREAT thing.
  2. A link, or an image linking to your website will be added to the sidebar, if you want to.
  3. Under each contribution of yours, your name, website, and email will be added, if you want to.

Hi Dr. Haisook!

I am also a physician. I am graduating residency this month in psychiatry, and will soon be moving to start my first real job as a physician. Anyway, I’d love to contribute if you think psychiatric topics would be a nice addition to your space. If not, se la vie!

Also, what do you think about blogging experiences? I like to share interesting cases (all very HIPAA compliant, I promise).

Dr. Willow-e

Hello Dr Willow-e,

First off, sorry for replying a bit late. I’m busy these days because of the exams.

Congrats in advance on your real experience as a psychiatrist!

Psychiatry would for sure be a GREAT topic to discuss here. Actually, it would be a very unique feature of the website, since all I’d be talking about – at least in the coming few years – purely phsyical. I’d very much like to see your contributions in my blog.

Well, as to blogging experience, I think it’s just awesome. Instead of building up a website, and adding your articles manually, you’d be doing that automatically and in a much faster time by blogging. Plus, the fact that people could comment on your writings is valuable.

WordPress is, honestly, a true state-of-the-art blogging system.

Please let me hear from you again if you’d like to join me!

Dr. Haisook:

I’ve been very busy lately, also, and sorry to take so long getting back here. What I meant when I mentioned “blogging experiences” was that I like to share stories about real patients, although I always change info so that no patient would ever recognize themselves if they were to read what I’ve written. Also, I typically combine a couple of cases together. Would you be opposed to that? If not, I’d love to join you, especially if you would allow me to put a link from my already existing blog to this one.

Dr. Willow-e

Hi again,

I totally understand you being busy in that part of your life.
I also understand that the anonymousity of psychic patients gets the highest priority.
Combined cases are good actually. No problem about that at all.
Exchanging links is great! Thanks for the offer.. that would be awesome. I thought you’d ask me to put YOURS in here (I automatically do that for my contributers).

Well, I’m not in a hurry. Take your time. I’m thrilled to check your stuff even though I have studied only a small bit of psychiatry.

By the way, check my ‘baby’ medical forum:

Good Luck.
